- M.P is an international recognized expert in Clinical Biochemistry, member of several
societies of Laboratory Medicine: SiBioC (Società Italiana di Biochimica Clinica), IFCC (International
Federation of Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine), EFLM (European Federation of Laboratory
Medicine). He participated to three European collaborative projects: 2001-2002 Coordinator of the Project
FP5 EU "La Vinci-Linnaeus-Da Darwin Initiative"; 2004-2007 Coordinator of the Project FP6 EU "Multi-
National External Quality Assay (EQA) Programmes in Clinical Molecular Diagnostics based on Performance
and Interpretation of PCR assay methods including dissemination and training”; 2008-2013 Member of the
Project FP7 EU “SPIDIA: Standardisation and improvement of generic pre-analytical tools and procedures
for in vitro diagnostics”. Today, he is the Project Leader of the Reference ISO/NP 20091 “Molecular in vitro
diagnostic examinations -- Specifications for pre-examination processes for blood -- Circulating cell free
DNA” and Reference ISO/NP 20185 “Molecular in-vitro diagnostic examinations -- Specifications for preexamination processes for blood -- Genomic DNA”.
